Teaching objectives

 The purpose of the university is to pursue the truth, in order to enlighten and develop the hearts and wisdom of students. Only this premise must cultivate students' rational development and moral self-discipline, in order to have the general knowledge of rational thinking, communicating with others, independent judgment, and distinguishing value, so as to achieve the ideal goal of whole personality education.

For this reason, the school established a general education center. Through the planning and implementation of general education courses, it adheres to the people-oriented whole-person education goal, balances professional and general education, so as to improve the quality of the school’s higher education and establish the quality and correctness of the school’s students. General education is a school-wide basic education. It is the foundation and core of university education. Students should have basic respect and understanding of different fields in order to have diversified knowledge to face the future society. The general education philosophy of our school is "to cultivate knowledge and understanding, and to achieve the whole person", and the goal of general education is to "cultivate Kainan people who are condensed, knowledgeable and have a liberal arts connotation". In order to achieve this goal, we plan to provide students with in-depth, high-quality, diversified and basic general education courses.

The center was established in the 1989 academic year, and is mainly responsible for the coordination and implementation of the school's general education curriculum, as well as the promotion of related administrative services. The school’s current general education courses require 28 credits, accounting for 21.87% of the total graduation credits. General education links the basic literacy of the school, planning four areas of "language expression", "humanities education", "social practice" and "scientific perception".

 

 

 

Various fields cover academic disciplines:

(1) "Language expression": native language and literature, foreign language and literature.

(2) "Humanities Education": History Studies, Humanities and Arts.

(3) "Social Practice": the discipline of constitutional government and the rule of law, and the discipline of social sciences.

(4) "Science Perception": Information Education, Natural Science, Life Science. Through the study of 18 credits of core courses in the four major areas, and a 10-credit plan for general education free electives to deepen learning and knowledge, a total of 28 credits.

Through the study of the course, students will cultivate their basic language skills in communication and expression, as well as foreign language skills in response to the advent of the era of globalization, and have the ability to adapt to the rapid changes in science and technology, as well as the ability to recognize and understand contemporary scientific and technological knowledge, explore natural sciences, Major human scientific developments such as life sciences and their impacts, while emphasizing the cultivation of the humanities and arts of the educated, establishing a sense of national identity and the concept of the rule of law, having the ability to analyze social phenomena and caring for the local society, so that students can adapt to a diversified and changing society .
